Book Review: The Winter Girl by Matt Marinovich

After reading the summary I thought “The Winter Girl“would suck me in right away. WRONG. I love a good mystery/thriller novel, but this one just didn’t do it for me.

A man named Scott and his wife, Elise, move to the Hamptons to take care of her father, Victor, who is on his death bed. Every character in this book is twisted. They all have major issues.

Scott is an unemployed alcoholic who has an obsession with a vacant (or so he thinks) house next door. His wife and her Father have many secrets that Scott does not know about, until he breaks into the house next door. The story unravels from there.

This book never kept me on my toes. When I read a thriller I want to be left guessing constantly. I want to be left wondering (and sometimes scared for) what is going to happen next. The end was so predictable I honestly almost did not even bother to finish it.

Don’t waste your time on bad books people. Do yourself a favor and skip out on this one. If you did read this book, let me know! I’m intrested in what you thought about it.

I’m on the hunt for a good thriller after reading this dud. Do yall have any suggestions?

    1. Same here! I hate reading a book I think is going to be fabulous & turns out to be awful! I love a good honest review!

    1. I thought the same thing about the story line when I read the back of the book, especially since on the cover it says “more scary than Gone Girl.” It was disappointing.
