Let me start by saying I ended up getting bridal portraits twice. There were two reasons for this, number one being I wanted pictures in the church I went to when I was younger even though we chose not to get married there. That church is very special to my heart, the people who gather in that church every Sunday helped shape me into who I am today. I had to have portraits there. Reason number two is the fake butt. Yes, I got underwear with butt cushions. I don’t have a butt y’all, so I thought this was a fabulous idea. This grand idea of mine ended up being a disaster. It was so bad, it literally ruined the portraits. Here’s a tip for all of y’all: ditch the butt cushioned panties. On a serious note, you don’t want to look like a totally different person on your wedding day, you want your body to look like it normally does.
The bridal portraits from the first session, without the butt pictured, were perfect. However, since the butt was so bad, and I wanted pictures in the church, we decided to do another session and I’m SO glad we did. These are pictures I’m going to have forever. I’m going to show these to my children, grandchildren, and God willing, great-grandchildren. They’re sort of a big deal.. My advice is to make sure your pictures are everything you ever dreamed of. Communicate with your photographer, tell her/him exactly what you want. If you’re not happy, tell them! Chances are, it’s not their photography, it’s the setting, fake butts, your hair, etc. Pin things on Pinterest for you to get ideas of what style portraits you like and make sure to show your photographer the pins!
I’ve heard of a lot of Brides lately skipping out on Bridals. For me, bridal portraits were fun, special, and I’m so glad I did them. I would definitely recommend you get them done! You can never have too many pictures of you in your wedding dress, remember that!
