I have recently discovered that good makeup isn’t always the most expensive makeup. I always thought anything not expensive was going to be awful & break my face out (I have super sensitive skin). I was totally wrong about that! I’ve found some of my most favorite makeup from the drugstore & I can’t wait to share them with you.
Growing up one thing my Great Grandmother, Mildred, always made for me was chicken and dumplings. It was, and still is, my favorite thing in the world. Mammow never really had a recipe, and now that she’s older she can’t remember exactly how she made them.
I have been searching for a good chicken and dumpling recipe for a couple of years now, and I could never find one that was really great. I thought all dumpling recipes had to be complicated, because how could something so amazing NOT be complicated? After many failed attempts at making dumplings, I’ve found that less is more. For my recipe, I have subtracted from and added to recipes I have tried in the past, and they turned out to be amazing.
This recipe originated with my great grandmother, Josie. She passed it down to my Grandmother, who has made it for me growing up. I LOVE this stuff. If my tummy were big enough, I would eat the whole entire pot. It’s perfect for the winter season, there’s nothing better than eating a warm bowl of yummy soup on a cold day. The best part about this recipe is it’s SO simple to make. I hope if you make this soup, you love it as much as I do!
Hey y’all! I feel like I’ve been a little MIA the past two weeks, life has been absolutely crazy!
Here’s a little update on life lately.
We purchased our first home together / We are officially homeowners together! Moving makes me never want to move again. Props to the people who do it with children & way more stuff than what we had. I feel so blessed and thankful every day that we are lucky enough to have this beautiful home we live in, and I can’t wait to share more pictures once we start getting things decorated around here.
I am officially a Certified Redken Specialist / After four days and a full 24 hours of class, I am a certified! For me, this is a big accomplishment. The class was an hour and a half away and I knew no one. I get totally uncomfortable in situations where I don’t know anyone, especially in a town I’m unfamiliar with, BUT this class was so worth it! I learned so much and I feel like I’m a 100 percent better stylist after completing it. Everyone there was extremely nice, I never once felt uncomfortable. Redken is such an amazing company. I can’t wait to further my education with them!
I got braces / Yes, it’s terrible. What 22 year old wants braces again? I seriously look just like I did when I was 15 and had them. Long story short, I grind my teeth a night and my alignment’s off, so I had to get braces! Hopefully once they’re off I will no longer wake my husband up every night by grinding my teeth. It won’t totally solve the problem, but it will definitely make it better than it is right now. I can’t help but think when we’re out in public people think I’m Mikes little sister rather than his wife. My 9 year old little brother got them too so at least I’m not the only one in the family with them (who cares that he’s 9 and I’m 22, right?)!
We bought a puppy / She will be ready to come home with us November 9th and I’m sooo freaking excited. You have no idea how long I have waited to finally be able to say I have a puppy that is MINE. I know Susie’s mine, and don’t get me wrong I love her sooo much, BUT I’ve dreamed of having a pup that I chose & picked out since I was in third grade! Do yall have any good name suggestions for a puppy?? I’m wanting a spunky, unusual name. I can’t wait to have our little princess home with us so I can have two sweet fur babies! I think Susie’s excited to get a little sister, too! I can’t wait to see what she thinks about the puppy. I don’t think Mike’s quite as excited as I am, but I know she will steal her heart the moment he holds her.
We fenced in our backyard / I’m oh so happy that we chose to do this. It’s SO nice to be able to throw the ball with Susie without having to worry about her running off after a bird or squirrel. She’s definitely able to get more energy out because we will are able to play with her so much more! Who knew I would be so happy and excited to have a fence??
PS. I have to give a little shout-out to my husband. He works so hard to provide for us and he’s always so supportive of everything I do. He’s so encouraging and he truly pushes me to reach for my goals. I’m thankful for that man every day!
My favorite season of the year is finally here, fall! I love October because it’s not so scorching hot, but not quite cold enough to break out the heavy winter jackets. Plus I love to watch how the leaves change in October. Mike and I always drive the Blue Ridge Parkway to see all the beautiful scenery fall brings.
Since it’s a new month and Mike & I are getting settled in a new house amongst all sorts of other new things in our lives, I decided I would make a list of October goals. I’m hoping doing this will motivate me to actually do the things on it! These aren’t major life changing goals, but they’re things I want to do this month.
- Start knitting again. (I know, I’m a Grandma)
- Read at least three books.
- Walk around the neighborhood with Susie at least 3 or more days a week
- Get blinds & pick out a paint color for our living room
- Try out 4 new recipes
- Carve a pumpkin with my husband
I love hearing all about other peoples goals so make sure you let me know what yours are for October in the comments!
