I have recently discovered that good makeup isn’t always the most expensive makeup. I always thought anything not expensive was going to be awful & break my face out (I have super sensitive skin). I was totally wrong about that! I’ve found some of my most favorite makeup from the drugstore & I can’t wait to share them with you.
My main focus lately has been my skin. I have been obsessed with the Estee Lauder Double Wear for a while, but it’s $40.00 a bottle. I’m a broke newlywed who just can’t afford to spend that on makeup. I have found the Revlon Color Stay for oily/combo skin works just as amazing and it doesn’t break my face out (insert sounds of angels singing here)! The best part? It’s $12.00! You can’t beat that. I’ve also been loving the Coty Airspun Loose Face Powder. I went to the beach with friends a few months back and one of them used this powder, so I had to try it out. It gives such an airbrushed look to the skin. I’m someone who has oily skin & I love that this powder mattifies my skin. I will never go back to expensive face powder, this one works just as well if not better than any top dollar powder I’ve used in the past. This foundation & powder combo covers any redness, bumps, and blemishes I have.
I have awful dark circles, some days they’re truly purple. Finding a concealer to cover that has been a challenge, but Maybelline Instant Age Rewind dark circle eraser works WONDERS. I set it with Mac’s Prep & Prime transparent Pressed Finishing Powder. It’s white in color so it really brightens up those under eyes. This Physicians Formula Bronzerhas been my go-to for a few months now. It has such a smooth consistency that goes on the skin flawlessly. I add it to my skin as a contour. For blush, I mix two. I use a blush by Clinique they no longer make, but this Bobbi Brown shimmer brick is very similar, first. Then I go in with my holy grail, Nars Angelika Blush. I take a large powder brush & blend everything together. After all that, my face is done! It sounds complicated, but it seriously takes me ten minutes in the mornings.
When it comes to eyes, I have been keeping things simple. I use a Mac Paint Pot in Soft Ochre as a base. For shadow, I use this Urban Decay Palette. It has all the basic colors I use and I really love it. I’ve never been choosy when it comes to eyeliner, so I grab any black liner pencil at the drugstore & I’m good to go. I am, however, choosy about my mascara. Who doesn’t love long, lengthy lashes?? I’m obsessed with L’Oreal Voluminous mascara. I originally got this for my wedding day because it’s waterproof and I knew I definitely needed that. This mascara really lifts & lengthens my lashes.
I’m obsessed with trying out new products, especially since I’m no longer scared of drugstore makeup, so please feel free to share with me your recent finds!
