My Grandmother has always made a salad dressing made purely of olive oil, red wine vinegar and salad supreme seasoning. I have tried time and time over and cannot seem to make it like she does. I always end up mixing too much of one of the ingredients and it ends up absolutely awful.
I subtracted from and added to a variety of recipes until I found the absolute perfect salad dressing. I love to use this dressing not only on salads, I use it on tuna (sometimes mixed in with a salad), sandwiches, and pretty much anything else you can possibly think of because I could seriously drink this stuff! I love that it’s homemade, so I don’t have to worry about any ingredients being in there that I can’t pronounce. Being that I make it almost weekly, I know I’m putting something fresh into my body which is something I really value.
I have always absolutely loved ranch dressing and I have never found a dressing that compares to ranch until I started making this. I actually now prefer my homemade oil & vinegar dressing over ranch dressing any day.
Side Note: I realize this dressing does have sugar in it, not making it the healthiest thing in the world, but I have omitted the sugar and I honestly couldn’t tell a difference. If you try it out without the sugar, let me know what you think!
- 1 C of olive oil
- 1/3 C of vinegar (I like plain vinegar, you may prefer red wine vinegar)
- 1/2 C water
- 1 tbsp. Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp. sugar (optional)
- 2 tsp. minced garlic
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1tsp. oregano
- Mix all ingredients in a bowl, serve.
