Our Wedding | The Reception

Aside from marrying my best friend, our reception was my favorite part of our wedding day. The serious, important stuff was done and we could celebrate being MARRIED with our friends and family! The nerves from the ceremony were gone; I felt like I could finally sit back, relax, and take everything in.

Right after the ceremony, our guests enjoyed a cocktail hour. We made sure our cocktail was short and sweet because we wanted to get to the good part, the food!

As soon as we were done taking pictures, we did our intros, which was HILARIOUS! We have the funniest friends in the world. They really made our day amazing. It poured the rain right before our ceremony, so the grass where our reception was still wet. Mike didn’t want me to get my dress dirty by walking in the grass, (it eventually did anyway) so he picked me up when we got to the grass area. How sweet is he?

We then went up to eat. I was still jittery from all the nerves so I didn’t eat a whole lot, but what I did eat was absolutely amazing! After we ate and started making our rounds to speak to everyone, it was time for the cake cutting! I threatened Mike and told him he better not smash cake in my face. He didn’t, thank God!

We ate cake, then we went outside to the dance floor to do the mother-son dance, father-daughter dance, and the first dance. Mike and his mom danced to “You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban, my Dad and I danced to “Daddy Dance With Me” by Kristal Keith, and Mike and I danced to “From this Moment” by Shania Twain.

Once we got done dancing, it was time for speeches. My Dad and two best friends gave speeches, and the Mikes two best friends gave a speech. They were all SO good. Every speech made me and Mike tear up, and no one could get through giving the speeches without crying! The speeches were such special moments.

Once the speeches were done, it was time to get the party started. We have such amazing friends and family, they really know how to have a good time. Our day was everything we could have dreamed of and more.
